My client in the retail independent pharmacy industry is looking for a pharmacist. The incumbent shall be responsible to perform duties that are within the scope of a practicing pharmacist, including the dispensing of appropriate pharmaceuticals to patients as defined in terms of the Pharmacy Act, the Medicines and Related Substances Act and Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP). The pharmacist shall achieve this either by executing a registered physicians order or by addressing the patients concerns and needs, in an ethical manner. The role shall entail a high level of responsibility and knowledge. The pharmacist does not merely hand out prescribed medicine; he/she has the expertise and willingness to assist people and provide them with information and solutions. The pharmacist must be fully qualified to interpret symptoms so that the patient can either be given immediate treatment, where applicable and/or the required referral is made. The responsibilities shall include, but not to be treated as an exhaustive list, namely: Ensure required issued script targets are adhered to. Interpreting, evaluating, and executing the applicable registered physicians prescriptions as well as checking the appropriateness and legality of all scripts. Be a medication steward. Continuous supervision of pharmacy interns and assistants, i.e., checking accuracy of prescriptions prepared by them. Signing off and checking all scripts prepared by interns and assistants before dispensing to clients. Taking responsibility for the preparation and dispensing of all scheduled and non-scheduled medication according to protocol requirements, the Pharmacy Act, the Medicines and Related Substances Act and Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP). To work effectively as a pharmacist within a multidisciplinary team (e.g., including other health professionals and medical schemes). Correct handling of Schedule 6 substances. Understand and be involved in dispensary stock management and partake in the pharmacy Stock Take events. Understand and adhere to all management Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and/or guidelines, etc. and know where the relevant files are kept. Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures according to prescribed procedures and legislation. Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve Company objectives. If a registered pharmacist (who is not the RP) exercises his/her professional judgment to divergence from the procedures set down by the RP, he/she shall be professionally accountable for that decision and for working in that way. Bachelor of Pharmacy degree. SAPC registration. SAPC annual declaration completed. Designated as a practising pharmacist. Compliant with CPD requirements. Must have at least 3 years experience working in a retail Pharmacy environment. Effective Computer literacy (especially, UNISOLVE, Xprocure, e-mail). Must have strong customer relationship management ability. Conflict resolution skills. Must have Integrity. Must be results driven. Strong interpersonal skills. Remain attentive in an often-busy environment and cope under pressure. Be proactive, reliable, responsible, and accurate with an attention to detail. Must be an effective team player.
