Job Summary
The company is looking for a Packing Machine Operator to work in the Operations Department. The ideal candidate has experience in the FMCG industry. The job incumbent will report to the Production Supervisor.
Duties:
- Adhering to and maintaining food safety, health, quality and hygiene standards at all times
- Adhering to and implementing standard operating procedures and the quality management system
- Mitigating food safety and health & safety risks in the factory
- Performing cleaning and sanitation procedures according to standard operating procedures
- Conducting visual inspections of employees personal hygiene and factory hygiene standards
- Performing verification checks on all equipment and machinery
- Operating packing machines and printing machines
- Calibrating scales using weights
- Operating the X-Ray machine using test pieces
- Conducting visual inspections and verifications on packing machines, X-Ray and printing machines
- Taking samples of products for testing
- Performing weight tests on product pouches
- Completing necessary paperwork: verification checklists, hygiene checklists, cleaning checklists, weight monitoring sheets, non-conformances, batch preparation sheets, production sheets, rejection sheets, requisition forms
- Reporting production, manufacturing, equipment, machinery, food safety and health & safety deviations
- Maintaining all housekeeping standards at all times
- Providing reasonable ad-hoc assistance in other departments, as and when needed
Requirements:
- Matric qualification
- Experience working in an FMCG environment / food industry
- Knowledge of the Food Industry and Standards in South Africa (e.g. HACCP, ISO, FSSC)
- Experience / training in Occupational Health and Safety
- Time management skills and the ability to work under pressure
- Excellent administrative record-keeping and filing (manual / electronic)
- Punctual, results-oriented, adaptable and able to work in a team environment
- Must be willing and able to work shifts
