Our client based in Pietermaritzburg is looking to fill the role of a Stores / Kitting Assistant on a one year fixed term contract. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Stores Manager.

Qualifications and Experience Required
– Previous stores experience preferred, specifically in an engineering environment where kits are compiled for assembly.
– Technical backgroundexperience, specifically with regards to identification of parts (electrical & mechanical), and ability to read technical drawings.
– Experience and ability to perform general maintenance and handyman tasks.
– Code 08 drivers license essential
– Forklift license and experience as forklift operator, up to 5 TON loads, preferred.
– Overhead crane license, up to 7.5 TON rated, preferred.
– PC skills (MS Outlook, Word, Excel & general).
– Fully literate, with good communication skills.

Objectives/responsibilities/Key Performance areas
– Compiling of kits or assistance with compiling of kits, which may include delivery/collection of parts from various processes or departments internally, or suppliers/service providers externally
– Ensuring that kitting dates are met as per requirements outlined by Kitting Team Leader or Stores Manager
– Ensuring that kits are complete and accurate
– Packing of parts & machinery; stripping, cleaning, rust prevention, packing, loading, strapping onto/into trucks/containers.
– Making of timber pallets and boxes.
– Packing of parts for safe transport.
– Assisting with stocktake and stock control.
– General maintenance and handyman tasks if and when required. This may include as examples, but not limited to the following:
a. Basic vehicle/equipment maintenance (eg. Vehicle inspections, checking oil, water etc.)
b. Replacing lightbulbs
c. Painting
d. Repairing/unblocking gutters
e. General building and site maintenance
