About the Role
Network Contracting is seeking a skilled Technical Production Engineer to join our Pretoria East team. As a key member of our production team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of our manufacturing processes. With experience in mechanical or electrical engineering and a background in production or operations management, you will lead our teams in implementing Lean Manufacturing principles, improving productivity, and maintaining high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organise, and control production schedules to meet demand and delivery targets.
- Oversee manufacturing operations across panel production, door manufacturing, and engineering functions.
- Ensure optimal utilisation of labour, materials, and machinery.
- Monitor production output and adjust plans to meet performance targets.
- Implement and sustain Lean Manufacturing principles, including 5S.
- Identify and drive process improvements to increase productivity and reduce waste.
- Analyse production data and KPIs to assess performance and recommend improvements.
- Ensure strict adherence to quality standards and product specifications.
- Monitor production quality and address non-conformances.
- Investigate and resolve quality issues and customer complaints where required.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including lamination, pressing, cutting, and profiling.
- Knowledge of core materials and bonding processes.
- Proficiency in production planning and ERP systems (experience with Syspro is advantageous).
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- 5–10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 5 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Experience in building materials or metal manufacturing environments will be advantageous.
Qualifications
- Technical qualification from a recognised institution in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Additional tertiary qualification in Production or Operations Management will be advantageous.
