About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Investment Analyst to join our team in Pretoria, South Africa. As a key member of our investment committee, you will be responsible for providing sound investment advice and strategies to ensure portfolio performance exceeds benchmarks over the long term. You will also be required to provide professional presentations to various audiences while projecting the company in a favourable light.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and analyses
  • Conduct due diligence on companies and industries by researching and reading financial statements and market data
  • Analyse financial information relating to specific companies, e.g. company results, profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow statements to determine how an organisation is positioned to deliver for investors
  • Keep up to date with market developments, new investment products and all other areas that can affect the markets, e.g. movements in the economies of relevant countries
  • Consider how the economic implications of factors such as natural disasters, weather and wars might affect the performance of companies and funds.
  • Monitor the financial news using specialist media sources
  • Carry out financial modelling and projections
  • Analyse research platforms to determine most cost-effective way to obtain research
  • Investment committee
  • Make recommendations to the investment committee, being able to position ideas and articulate to the investment committee the potential and risks of various investment options
  • Provide portfolio performance reports at regular intervals, comparing performance to benchmarks, other similar funds, and the markets
  • Ensure investment committee decisions are implemented
  • Document the investment strategy of each portfolio
  • Ensure the risk table is updated when necessary
  • Propose new portfolios from time to time that could be beneficial to clients
  • Presentations and reports
  • Prepare research and other articles for the monthly newsletters
  • Prepare the quarterly reports
  • Prepare the quarterly factsheets
  • Meet with and provide relevant information to wealth managers and clients, including the preparation of presentations/and or research reports for clients
  • Present at various company seminars, webinars or other events
