About the Role

Dis-Chem Pharmacies are seeking a highly skilled and experienced pharmacist to join their team at their Montana store. As a key member of our retail pharmacy, you will be responsible for providing exceptional pharmaceutical care to our patients and ensuring the smooth operation of our dispensary.

Key Responsibilities

Provision of pharmaceutical care by taking responsibility for patients’ medicine-related needs and being accountable for meeting those needs
Evaluation of patients’ medicine-related needs by determining the indication, safety, and effectiveness of therapy
Dispensing of any medicine or scheduled substance on the prescription of a person authorized to prescribe medicine
Signing off and checking of all prescriptions prepared by an assistant or an intern and accepting accountability for the correctness thereof as per GPP 2.7.1.2.1.f
Furnishing of information and advice to any person with regard to the use of medicine
Determining patient compliance with therapy and follow-up to ensure that patients’ medicine-related needs are being met
The provision of pharmacist-initiated therapy
Compounding, manipulation, preparation, or packaging of any medicine or scheduled substance, or the supervision thereof
Manufacturing of any medicine or scheduled substance, or supervision thereof
Purchasing, acquiring, importing, keeping, possessing, using, releasing, storage, packaging, re-packaging, supplying, or selling of any medicine or scheduled substance, or supervision thereof
Application for the registration of a medicine in accordance with the Medicines Act and Pharmacy Act
Acts specially pertaining to the profession of a pharmacist as prescribed above
Formulation of any medicine for the purposes of registration as a medicine
Distribution of any medicine or scheduled substance
Repackaging of medicines
Initiation and conducting of pharmaceutical research and development
Promotion of public health

Requirements

Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
Minimum 2-3 years experience in pharmacy, preferably retail pharmacy
Computer literate with MS Office skills
Ability to communicate effectively in two languages (English and another language of choice)

Qualifications

Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (BPharm)
Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
