Job Description

A specialist public sector consulting firm, known for its multidisciplinary approach and use of advanced technology, is seeking a highly experienced Principal Accountant to take ownership of complex, high-value government and municipal finance engagements. This role is suited to a seasoned public sector professional with deep technical expertise, strong leadership capability, and the credibility to operate at a senior advisory level. You will function at a strategic and consultative level, leading public sector financial engagements, ensuring regulatory compliance, and guiding both clients and project teams through complex financial and legislative environments. Key Responsibilities: Lead and deliver high-impact public sector finance projects Provide expert advisory support on GRAP, PFMA, and municipal finance Oversee complex financial reporting and audit engagements Advise senior stakeholders and executive-level clients Mentor, review, and guide the work of senior and junior finance professionals Ensure consistent quality, compliance, and delivery across all engagements Experience & Qualifications: CA(SA) qualification (non-negotiable) 10 years accounting experience with significant public sector exposure Extensive expertise in GRAP, PFMA, and government/municipal finance Proven leadership, advisory, and stakeholder management capability Comfortable operating at a strategic, consultative level Willingness to travel as required Apply now!
