Responsibilties

  • Financial Controls: Implement and maintain key financial controls and processes to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Month-End Close: Oversee the month-end close process, including balance sheet and income statement reconciliations.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and guide the finance team to ensure timely completion of tasks and adherence to deadlines.
  • External Audit Coordination: Serve as the primary contact for external auditors and support the audit process.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Review management accounts and prepare monthly financial and operational reports.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Oversee and assist in budget preparation and forecasting, ensuring alignment with financial standards.
  • Journal Management: Prepare, review, and approve journal entries to maintain accurate financial records.
  • SARS Compliance: Handle inquiries related to Tax, VAT, and other financial matters with SARS.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with other divisions to achieve overall business objectives.
  • Cash Management: Prepare payments, maintain the cashbook, and manage the fixed asset register.

Requirements

  • Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years` experience in a Senior Accounting or equivalent role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls, and reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to manage and lead a team effectively.
  • Experience dealing with SARS and familiarity with Tax and VAT regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across divisions.
  • Experience in property development or a similar sector is preferred
