About the Role
Join a Leading Short-Term Insurance Provider in Sandton, where we are seeking an experienced Senior Personal Lines Underwriter to deliver exceptional underwriting service and solutions for clients’ personal short-term insurance portfolios. Key Responsibilities
- Provide accurate quotations and servicing for assigned personal insurance portfolios.
- Manage client communications — respond promptly to phone calls, emails, and written instructions while confirming all interactions in writing.
- Log all voice interactions, detailing client surname and reason for call.
- Action policy changes, including endorsements, additions, and deletions; ensure all policy documentation and schedules are updated, and send relevant communication to clients.
- Maintain a comprehensive diary for outstanding information and documentation; follow up regularly via phone, email, fax, or SMS.
- Proactively delete warranties and adjust premiums if supporting documentation for discounts (e.g., tracking device, limited kilometres) is not received after three follow-ups.
- Advise clients regarding appropriate insurance coverage while maintaining accurate working notes and EDS file records.
- Engage cancellation requests by understanding client reasons, providing alternatives, and working to retain business.
- Flag and escalate any client issues relating to service or potential income loss.
- Manage renewals, new business, re-insurance cases, and credit control processes efficiently.
Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Tertiary or professional qualification in Personal Lines Short-Term Insurance Underwriting
- RE 5 Certification
- Full FAIS qualification with Class of Business (COB) in Personal Lines
Qualifications
- Valid, up-to-date CPD Points
- At least 7 years’ proven experience in Personal Lines Insurance underwriting
