About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Clerk to join our team. As an Accounting Clerk, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records, processing invoices and payments, and providing administrative support to senior finance staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate accounting records in line with company policies
- Capture and process journals, invoices, and payments
- Assist in maintaining general ledger integrity and supporting schedules
- Ensure proper filing and document control (physical and electronic)
- Process supplier invoices and assist with supplier statement reconciliations
- Prepare payment schedules for review
- Assist with debtor invoicing, receipt allocations, and follow-ups
- Resolve basic supplier and customer account queries
- Report cash flow variances identified
- Perform daily and weekly bank and cash reconciliations
- Assist with monitoring bank balances
- Prepare supporting banking and payment documentation
- Assist with preparation of reconciliations and schedules for monthly management accounts
- Compile supporting data for management and financial reports
- Assist with budget tracking and variance support
- Maintain payroll supporting documentation
- Assist with statutory submissions (PAYE, UIF, SDL, VAT) under guidance
- Prepare audit files and supporting documentation
- Assist with internal and external audit queries
- Support adherence to financial controls and procedures
- Provide administrative and analytical support
- Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis and finance-related projects
- Liaise with other departments when required
- Ensure accurate and consistent use of accounting systems
Requirements
- Matric
- Diploma or Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- Relevant bookkeeping or accounting qualification
- 2â3 yearsâ experience in a finance or accounting role
- Exposure to AP/AR, reconciliations, and basic general ledger functions
- Experience supporting senior finance staff is advantageous
- Working knowledge of accounting software (Sage, Pastel, Xero, or similar)
- Strong Microsoft Excel Skills (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP)
- Essential Microsoft Word and Outlook skills
- Reliable transport
