Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordination of Dispatch Operations

  1. Plan, schedule, and coordinate the dispatch of goods to customers, depots, or sites.
  2. Ensure timely and accurate delivery of orders according to priority and route efficiency.
  3. Liaise with warehouse and logistics teams to confirm availability of goods for dispatch.

Route & Fleet Management

  1. Allocate deliveries to drivers or transport partners based on route optimization and capacity.
  2. Monitor fleet performance, vehicle utilization, and driver adherence to schedules.
  3. Assist in planning efficient routes to minimize transport costs and delays.

Communication & Customer Service

  1. Act as the main point of contact between the dispatch team, drivers, and customers.
  2. Communicate any delays, changes, or issues with deliveries promptly.
  3. Handle customer queries or complaints regarding deliveries in a professional manner.

Documentation & Compliance

  1. Maintain accurate dispatch records, delivery notes, and proof of delivery (POD).
  2. Ensure compliance with South African transport regulations (e.g., Road Traffic Act, Occupational Health and Safety).
  3. Keep records of fuel usage, vehicle inspections, and maintenance schedules.

 Inventory & Stock Management

  1. Monitor stock levels to ensure that dispatched goods match inventory availability.
  2. Coordinate with warehouse staff to manage order picking and loading schedules.
  3. Identify and report stock discrepancies or damages during dispatch.

Team Supervision

  1. Supervise drivers and dispatch clerks to ensure efficient and safe operations.
  2. Conduct performance reviews and provide guidance or training as needed.
  3. Ensure drivers comply with company policies and road safety standards.

Reporting & Analysis

  1. Prepare reports on delivery performance, late deliveries, and transport costs.
  2. Analyze operational issues to recommend process improvements.
  3. Track KPIs such as on-time delivery, fuel efficiency, and vehicle downtime.

 
REQUIREMENTS

  1. Grade 12
  2. Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a dispatch controller
  3. Fleet control experience is a must for this position
  4. Able to manage drivers, timesheets, diesel usage control systems
  5. Syspro experience is compulsory

RUMUNERATION
