This role is ideal for a finance professional with strong operational awareness and hospitality experience, ready to lead the propertys financial function and support executive decision-making. Role Overview: The Financial Manager will oversee the full financial operations of the property, including accounting, budgeting, reporting, and compliance, across the hotel, restaurants, spa, and winery. This individual will provide strategic financial guidance, drive operational efficiencies, and support the General Manager and Regional Finance Director to ensure sustainable growth and profitability. Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Management Lead and mentor the finance team, promoting accuracy, accountability, and service excellence Build financial awareness across departments and support non-financial managers in decision-making Allocate workloads effectively and ensure compliance with company policies Financial Management & Reporting Oversee journals, reconciliations, month-end close, management accounts, and intercompany transactions Produce accurate monthly P&L and balance sheet reports, segmented by department (Rooms, F&B, Spa, Winery, Retail) Monitor departmental costs, margins, and yields; support pricing and revenue initiatives Present financial insights, forecasts, and variance analysis to the General Manager and Heads of Department Budgeting & Forecasting Lead annual budgeting and forecasting cycles in collaboration with department heads Analyse budget vs actual performance and identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost optimisation Operational Finance & Controls Implement and monitor internal controls across all departments Manage cash flow, stock reporting, and POS & PMS integrations Maintain Fixed Asset Register and Capex control schedules Compliance & Auditing Ensure statutory compliance (VAT, Income Tax, PAYE, UIF, SDL) and audit readiness Liaise with external auditors, SARS, and financial institutions Maintain adherence to IFRS, company policies, and group reporting standards Personal Criteria: Excellent communication and leadership skills Strong analytical, financial modelling, and problem-solving abilities Commercially minded with strategic outlook and operational awareness High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ethical standards Proactive; adaptable, results-driven, and able to work independently Passionate about service excellence and hospitality Flexible; team-oriented, and able to thrive under pressure Qualifications & Experience: BCom Accounting or equivalent degree Completion of SAICA articles Minimum 5 years post-article experience in financial management or senior accounting roles Experience in hospitality preferred; familiarity with POS and Property Management systems Proficient in Sage X3
