General Manager Vacancy – 5* Mobile Safari Camp Location: Serengeti Region, Tanzania (live-in) Salary: Market related benefits Accommodation: Provided (single status only – ideally suited to candidates already holding Tanzanian work rights or residency) Role Overview A luxury mobile safari operation in the Serengeti is seeking an experienced General Manager to oversee all aspects of camp operations. This role is responsible for providing disciplined and inspirational leadership, ensuring seamless guest experiences, financial efficiency, and staff development across multiple camps. The successful candidate will embody presence, integrity, and passion for African hospitality, while driving sustainability, conservation, and community development initiatives in alignment with the property’s ethos. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Guest Experience Provide strong and visible leadership across all departments, ensuring operational excellence. Oversee day-to-day camp management, including food & beverage, housekeeping, guides, and guest services. Host VIPs, media, and agents, representing the property with professionalism. Ensure world-class guest experiences through attention to detail and proactive issue resolution. Operational & Financial Management Full responsibility for budgets, forecasting, and CAPEX planning. Ensure cost control, procurement of local produce, and financial compliance. Monitor and maintain all infrastructure, vehicles, and equipment to high operational standards. Human Capital Development Mentor, coach, and develop senior managers, HODs, and junior leaders. Ensure staff welfare, training, and skills development plans are in place. Uphold labour relations, leave management, and medical fund compliance. Community & Conservation Engagement Build and maintain relationships with staff, local communities, and industry stakeholders. Support wildlife conservation and community development projects. Ensure sustainability values are integrated into operations and decision-making. Candidate Profile Qualifications & Experience 10 years’ management experience in a 5-star safari lodge environment. At least 5 years’ senior management experience in East Africa (essential). Hotel Management or Hospitality qualification preferred. Valid driver’s license. Skills & Attributes Strong financial and commercial acumen. Inspirational leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proactive problem-solver, adaptable, and culturally sensitive. Detail-oriented with proven ability to deliver exceptional guest experiences. Computer literacy in Microsoft Office and lodge systems. Package Competitive salary (market-related, dependent on experience). Live-in accommodation (single status only). Benefits package in line with senior-level appointment.
