Job Description
Hire Resolve’s Client is currently looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager to join their mining company based in Gauteng. You will be responsible for leading maintenance and asset management functions to maximise equipment reliability, plant availability, safety compliance and operational performance through effective maintenance strategies, people leadership and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage maintenance operations to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient performance of plant equipment and infrastructure.
- Develop and implement preventative, predictive and breakdown maintenance strategies, including Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM) principles, to maximise asset reliability and availability.
- Manage maintenance teams, contractor performance and labour-related matters to support operational objectives and compliance with SHEQ standards.
- Drive employee performance, skills development and succession planning through effective leadership and coaching.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act, machinery regulations and plant compliance requirements.
- Oversee maintenance planning, scheduling and execution to minimise downtime and optimise equipment effectiveness.
- Monitor equipment performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reliability and operational efficiency.
- Manage maintenance and project budgets while identifying opportunities for cost optimisation and improved asset performance.
- Lead maintenance-related projects, equipment upgrades and refurbishment initiatives from planning through implementation.
- Ensure compliance with site safety standards, risk management processes and operational procedures, including specialised safety requirements where applicable.
- Analyse maintenance data, trends and equipment performance to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Prepare and present maintenance, project and performance reports to management and key stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Grade 12
- GCC Factories
- Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Engineering
- Qualification in Business Administration (MBA/Postgraduate diploma or equivalent)
- Minimum 10 years’ experience working in a smelter environment
- Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Suite (Word & Excel)
- Competent in PLC/SCADA programming
- Knowledge of RCM principles and maintenance best practices
- Sound understanding of the OHS Act, LRA and relevant compliance requirements
- Knowledge of radiation safety protocols and access-controlled environments
