About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled IT/Network Technician to join our team at MECS Africa. As an integral part of our infrastructure support, you will be responsible for maintaining our software computer system, including our local area network (LAN), and ensuring the security and integrity of our systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining the company’s software computer system, including the LAN
  • Performing backups and restores as required, and when disaster recovery tests are required
  • Ensure security of the systems are maintained
  • Ensure passwords to administrative user-ids are maintained and reset as required
  • Troubleshooting any routine problems that users cannot fix on their own, eg printers
  • Performance Monitoring of client systems as well as our own
  • Responsible for Nagios, and reporting proactively on issues picked up
  • Keep documentation up to date, and key resolutions of all incidents and user queries
  • Keep management and designated others fully and accurately informed concerning problems
  • Ensure confidentiality of company and client privileged information
  • Undertake relevant projects
  • Any other reasonable tasks as required by senior management from time to time

Requirements

  • At least 5 years ICT technical experience
  • Problem analysis/solving
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of the TCP-IP Networking Stack
  • Microsoft Platform: Server Operating Systems, Remote Desktop Protocol, Active Directory, DNS
  • Linux – understanding of the platform and getting around, OpenVPN
  • Mikrotik OS knowledge

  • Information Technology related degree/diploma
