About the Role

The Model Validation team plays a vital role in strengthening risk management, financial decision-making, and regulatory compliance across the organisation. We validate models across multiple domains, including credit risk, finance, capital modelling, and fraud detection. The team works closely with modelling and business units to provide robust technical challenge, ensuring models remain accurate, reliable, and fit for purpose in a rapidly changing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed end-to-end validations of credit risk, finance, capital, and fraud models.
  • Develop comprehensive validation plans, documentation, and reports in line with regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Build and implement challenger models to independently assess model performance and robustness.
  • Analyse model inputs, methodologies, assumptions, and outputs to identify limitations and areas for improvement.
  • Perform data quality assessments and ensure data used for modelling and validation is reliable and fit for purpose.
  • Engage with model developers, business teams, and risk stakeholders to provide technical challenge and effective feedback.
  • Monitor model performance over time and conduct periodic reviews to ensure models remain accurate and fit for purpose.

Requirements

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or Data Science.
  • Preferred: Honours degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Actuarial Science.
  • 3-6 years of proven experience in scorecard development, including building, validating, and monitoring scorecards for credit risk (application/behaviour) or marketing.
  • Strong background in data mining, analytics, and predictive modelling.
  • Full understanding of the credit lifecycle.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or Data Science

Salary & Benefits

Salary up to R960k CTC negotiable on experience and ability.
