About the Role
Kendrick Recruitment is seeking an experienced Pastry Chef de Partie to join our private nature reserve in Gansbaai. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for managing the pastry section of the kitchen and contributing to delivering exceptional dining experiences. If you have strong technical skills, creativity, and a passion for luxury cuisine, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the pastry section of the kitchen.
- Prepare pastries, desserts, and baked goods to the highest standard.
- Ensure all mise-en-place is freshly prepared and available on time.
- Maintain consistency in taste, portion size, and presentation.
- Supervise and mentor junior pastry staff, providing guidance and training.
- Ensure the pastry section is kept clean, organised, and compliant with hygiene standards.
- Collaborate with Sous Chefs and Head Chefs to plan seasonal menus and new creations.
- Monitor ingredient stock levels and communicate any shortages promptly.
- Assist with special events, private dining, and dietary requests as required.
- Maintain discipline and professionalism within the team.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef de Partie in a luxury hotel, lodge, or fine dining environment.
- Strong technical skills in pastry, desserts, and baked goods.
- Creativity and attention to detail.
- Leadership and mentoring skills for junior staff.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and stock management.
- Ability to work under pressure, independently, and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a similar role is highly preferred but not mandatory.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary negotiable, depending on experience (R12,000 – R18,000 per month).
- Provident Fund (Old Mutual).
- Partial medical aid contribution.
- Uniform provided.
