What Were Looking For:
We are looking for a reliable and motivated Sculler to assist in our kitchen at Camps Bay Retreat. The ideal candidate will support the culinary team by performing various kitchen tasks, ensuring a clean and organised workspace, and assisting with food preparation. A passion for food and a strong work ethic are essential for success in this role.
Job Description:
The sculler must assist with food preparation, maintain cleanliness, follow safety standards, restock supplies, support team members, care for equipment, perform basic cooking tasks, communicate clearly, adapt to various responsibilities, and assist in service.
Responsibilities:
- Assist chefs with ingredient preparation and cooking tasks.
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen, including washing dishes.
- Follow hygiene and safety standards for food handling.
- Help restock supplies and manage inventory.
- Support the culinary team during busy service periods.
- Clean and maintain kitchen equipment.
- Perform simple cooking tasks as directed.
- Communicate effectively with team members.
- Take on various tasks as needed.
- Assist with plating and serving food
Qualifications:
- Some experience in a kitchen or culinary setting is preferred but not required.
- A high school diploma or equivalent; culinary school training is a plus.
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Familiarity with basic cooking techniques and kitchen equipment.
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and take on various tasks in a fast-paced environment
