Job Summary
Key
Responsibilities:
Storage Design and Layout:
- Plan and implement effective Store layouts, ensuring maximum space utilization and ease of access
- Design storage solutions for a variety of items, including heavy machinery parts, tools, and consumables
- Establish and maintain binning strategies to optimize stock retrieval and replenishment
- Capex plan for storage facilities.
Cataloguing and Inventory Management:
- Develop and maintain a catalogue of all stock items with clear and accurate descriptions
- Standardize item naming conventions and ensure alignment with SAP master data
- Assist in creating and maintaining item records, stock levels, and reorder points in SAP
Process and Procedure Development:
- Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for stores management
- Implement and monitor best practices for stock handling, storage, and distribution
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations within the stores area
SAP Master Data Management:
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of SAP material master data
- Collaborate with the procurement and logistics teams to ensure data accuracy and integrity
- Train Stores Controllers and other stakeholders in the use of SAP for inventory management
Support and Training:
- Provide technical support and guidance to Stores Controllers
- Train staff on cataloguing, binning, and inventory management procedures
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of stores operations and recommend improvements
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process enhancements to improve efficiency and reduce costs
- Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies in inventory and warehouse management
Minimum
Requirements:
- Diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in inventory or stores management, preferably in a mining or industrial environment
- Proficiency in SAP MM (Materials Management) or a similar ERP system
- Strong understanding of inventory control principles and warehouse management
- Ability to design and implement effective binning and storage systems
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations in a mining context
- Flexibility to work in remote locations and adapt to challenging environments
- Effective implementation of storage layouts and binning strategies
- Accuracy and completeness of SAP master data records
- Adherence to inventory management procedures and safety standards
- Reduction in stock discrepancies and operational downtime
- Timely and efficient training of Stores Controllers
