South Africa: Technical Internal Sales

This role is well suited to a Mechanical Engineering Diploma graduate or early-career engineer (03 years experience) with a strong interest in rotating equipment and industrial applications. The position focuses on technical pump selection, spares identification, quotation preparation, and internal sales support , working closely with external sales and service teams. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate technical support, fast turnaround on quotations, and clear communication between customers, internal teams, and international manufacturing partners. Technical Sales & Application Support Assess customer enquiries and recommend suitable equipment based on application data Provide basic application guidance and technical support to sales teams Assist with preliminary fault interpretation and technical clarification Spares Identification & BOM Preparation Identify correct spare parts using drawings, exploded views, and parts lists Compile accurate bills of materials and spares quotations Ensure correct part numbers, quantities, and technical descriptions Quotation Preparation Prepare quotations for equipment, spares, and service-related items Respond to RFQs accurately and within required turnaround times Maintain quotation records and support follow-ups Factory & Supplier Liaison Communicate with international factories and suppliers regarding: Technical queries Pricing Lead times Product availability Datasheets and technical documentation Interpret factory feedback and relay clear information internally Internal Coordination Work closely with external sales, service, procurement, and logistics teams Support service teams with spares verification and technical input Assist with improving internal quotation and documentation processes Candidate Requirements Mechanical Engineering Diploma (minimum requirement) 03 years experience in internal technical sales, applications engineering, or a similar role Graduates with strong technical aptitude will be considered Basic understanding of mechanical systems and rotating equipment Ability to read datasheets, drawings, and technical documentation Strong computer literacy (MS Office essential; ERP/CRM exposure advantageous) Personal Attributes Technically curious and keen to learn Methodical, accurate, and detail-focused Strong written and verbal communication skills Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities Professional, reliable, and customer-focused Work Environment Office-based role in the Durban / Pinetown area Close daily interaction with sales, service, and operations teams Limited exposure to industrial sites for learning and development Career Development This role offers long-term growth potential into areas such as: External Technical Sales Applications Engineering Product or Technical Specialist roles Service or Technical Coordination You will gain exposure to a wide range of industrial sectors, including manufacturing, food processing, water treatment, medical, packaging, and general industry.
