South Africa: Workshop Technician

We are seeking a motivated Hotel Workshop Technician to join the hotels engineering and maintenance team. The successful candidate will perform routine maintenance, repairs, and technical work in the hotel workshop, ensuring all tools, equipment, and hotel assets are maintained to the highest operational and safety standards. Critical Criteria (Requirements) Technical or trade qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Workshop Engineering advantageous Proven experience in workshop maintenance, repair, or fabrication Knowledge of workshop tools, machinery, and safety procedures Minimum 13 years experience in a workshop or maintenance role, preferably in a hotel, industrial, or commercial environment Strong problem-solving and technical skills Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship Ability to work independently and efficiently under deadlines Team player with strong communication skills Must hold a valid South African ID Key Competencies 🔹 Technical Expertise Skilled in preventative and corrective maintenance, repairs, and workshop fabrication 🔹 Quality & Standards Focus Ensures all workshop outputs meet high operational, durability, and finish standards 🔹 Health & Safety Compliance Adheres strictly to occupational health and safety regulations, PPE usage, and safe machinery handling 🔹 Inventory & Equipment Management Maintains tools, materials, and workshop inventory efficiently 🔹 Team Collaboration Works effectively with the engineering and maintenance team and supports on-site repairs when required Duties & Responsibilities Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on hotel equipment, furniture, and assets Repair, refurbish, and fabricate components as required in the workshop Operate workshop machinery safely and efficiently Inspect completed work to ensure consistency, quality, and reliability Manage workshop materials, tools, and inventory; report shortages, defects, or malfunctions to the Maintenance Manager Follow strict health, safety, and PPE procedures at all times Work collaboratively with the engineering and maintenance team to support hotel operations Assist with on-site repairs and emergency maintenance tasks as required Live and promote the hotels values of Teamwork, Respect, Innovation, Accountability, Passion, and Integrity Package on Offer Basic salary (TBA) 50/50 contribution to Pension Company contribution to medical aid Important Application Notes Must hold a valid South African ID Only candidates with relevant workshop or maintenance experience will be shortlisted Ensure your CV is 100% updated All applicants will attend a virtual introduction interview Recruitment aligns with the companys Employment Equity Plan About the President Hotel The President Hotel is on a journey to be considered a true luxury destination.
