About the Role
As a Zero Waste Officer at Wasteplan, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate sorting and waste characterization of residual waste. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the sorting staff who are assigned to sort residual waste, ensuring that all grades of materials are accurately sorted and weighed. This position requires a strong understanding of waste management principles, recyclable materials, organic waste, and non-recyclable materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee sorting staff for accurate sorting and weighing of residual waste
- Ensure accurate ratios between recyclable materials, non-recyclable materials, organic / compostable materials, and general waste are measured in the residual waste
- Effectively communicate with Contract Manager to bring concerns regarding waste audit issues to their attention
- Assume the role and duties of the Contract Manager on days off in a seven-day working week cycle
Requirements
- Relevant degree/diploma in waste management or related field
- Minimum 2-3 years of working experience in the waste industry
- Valid driver’s license
- Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, clients, and stakeholders
- Experience with writing reports/analyzing data is an asset
