The Guest House Manager is responsible for the full day-to-day management of the property and its resources. This role requires a hands-on leader who delivers exceptional guest experiences while maintaining strong operational, administrative, and financial oversight. The ideal candidate is a natural host, an organised administrator, and a people-focused manager who fosters both guest satisfaction and team engagement. Key Responsibilities & Performance Areas Oversee and manage all daily guest house operations, including: Guest relations & complaint handling Housekeeping & room standards Breakfast and food service offerings Maintenance coordination & reporting Stock, inventory and supplier management Sales, marketing & online distribution (incl. Nightsbridge & Nightsbridge partner platforms via Nightsbridge & MS Office proficiency) Employee relations, training & performance management Ensure guest rooms are maintained at the highest standards of cleanliness, comfort and presentation Conduct daily cash-ups, manage petty cash and complete monthly account reconciliations Monitor financial performance and prepare monthly reports vs budgets for stakeholders Manage and respond to online reviews and guest feedback across platforms Inspire, motivate and lead the team, ensuring: Positive staff culture and strong working relationships Daily task scheduling and duty direction Ongoing training and development Handle guest complaints swiftly and professionally, ensuring effective resolution Work hospitality shifts as required, including weekends and public holidays Minimum Requirements Previous experience in a 4/5 star hospitality management role Strong administrative and financial management skills Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Proven ability to lead, train and support a team Excellent computer literacy in: MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook ) Email communication Nightsbridge and SEMPER PMS experience Valid driver’s licence, own vehicle and willingness to travel for work Ability to work hospitality shifts Must reside in or near Stellenbosch or surrounding areas Personal Attributes Exceptional hosting ability and genuine passion for guest experience Highly organised with strong problem-solving skills Calm under pressure, proactive and solution driven Team orientated, fair and supportive leadership style
