This role requires expertise in navigating public, non-profit, and commercial sectors of the art world. The Gallery Director will be responsible for leading the commercial strategy, managing a dynamic team, engaging with various stakeholders, and working closely with the Gallery Curator and leadership team to ensure the gallery`s vision and mission are realized in all its endeavors.

Candidate requirements:

• Academic background in humanities or proven long-term professional experience in the art world.
• A minimum of 5+ years of experience in a managerial role in a cultural space with a proven ability to implement successful commercial strategies.
• Must have working proficiency in Microsoft Office and ideally knowledge of working with a CRM system.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborating with the Gallery Curator and senior leadership on conceptualizing exhibitions, events, and partnerships.
• Overseeing the implementation of the gallery’s local and international schedules, including exhibitions, collaborations, art fairs, and client events.
• Developing and executing an annual commercial and marketing strategy with clear sales targets, forecasting, and competitor analysis to support the gallery’s commercial growth.
• Expanding and managing the client base, ideally with experience using CRM systems (such as Artlogic or Monday.com), while maintaining accurate sales, inventory, and client interaction records.
• Leading a team that includes two Gallery Assistants and an Art Registrar, ensuring seamless daily operations, managing HR matters, and facilitating necessary training.
• Maintaining the gallery space to meet health and safety standards while ensuring it remains presentable for the public at all times.
• Collaborating with department leaders across the broader organization to foster cross-departmental synergies.
