About the Role

A permanent position is available as a Health and Safety Officer in our FMCG company, based in Stellenbosch. As a technical professional with 5 years of experience in occupational health, safety, and environment in a corporate setting, you will be responsible for ensuring the well-being of our employees and maintaining high standards of health and safety within our facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Inspect that all machines, equipment, and vehicles are maintained according to planned maintenance schedules and required health and safety standards.
Monitor the running machines, vehicles, forklifts, and equipment, and make proposals for improvements/ replacements when necessary to ensure that all machinery is safe to operate.
Ensure proper care and use of machines, tools, and equipment, and request replacements when required.
Ensure all break downs and preventative maintenance records are completed according to OHS procedures.
Source and negotiate prices for spares and new equipment when required.
Facilitate specialist maintenance repairs and coordinate with engineering companies if necessary.

Requirements

Grade 12 Technical Diploma/Certificate/Trade Tested, or equivalent technical qualification
5 years of experience with a technical background in a similar environment
3-5 years relevant experience in occupational health, safety, and environment (in a corporate environment)
Basic knowledge of HACCP system.
In-depth knowledge of the Pre-requisite Programmes ISOPE01 & ISOP02.
In-depth knowledge of HACCP Plan for glass and Bib Filing ISOPH02.

Qualifications

Mechanical maintenance and Project management skills,
Analytical and creative problem-solving skills,
Product and production process knowledge.
