Job Title Sous Chef (Junior to Mid-Level) Establishment Type Large-Scale Catering Company (Events & Hospitality) Location Cape Winelands, Western Cape, South Africa Salary Package R20,000 – R28,000 (Negotiable DOE) Live-out position Role Overview A well-established catering company in the Cape Winelands is urgently seeking a motivated and reliable Sous Chef to support high-volume food production for events and hospitality operations. This role is suited to a hands-on chef with strong organisational skills and proven experience in large-scale catering environments. The successful candidate must be comfortable working under pressure, managing prep and service for large numbers, and maintaining consistent food quality across events. Key Responsibilities Assist in daily kitchen operations for high-volume catering production Support menu execution for events, functions, and hospitality services Supervise and guide junior kitchen staff during prep and service Ensure consistent food quality, portion control, and presentation Maintain strict hygiene and food safety standards (HACCP) Assist with stock control, ordering, and waste management Support setup and breakdown for off-site events where required Work flexible hours including weekends and event-based schedules Minimum Requirements (Essential) Previous large-volume catering experience with a reputable company Proven ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure environments Strong all-round cooking ability Good organisational and time management skills Reliable, professional, and team-oriented work ethic Valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport (non-negotiable) Willingness to work flexible hours and event schedules Advantageous Based in the Cape Winelands or surrounding areas Experience in event catering, banqueting, or production kitchens Supervisory experience within a catering or hospitality environment TO APPLY Apply with your current CV (including a recent head & shoulders photograph) , along with your reference contacts , ASAP.
