About the Role
Hire Resolve’s Client is currently seeking a Management Accountant to join their reputable company in the Food Production Industry in Cape Town. As a Management Accountant, you will be responsible for analyzing financial data, preparing reports, and providing insights to senior management for decision making.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze financial data and prepare reports for management review
- Analyse and understand variances, including raw material, packaging, production, labour, transport, margin, overheads and other variances
- Understand and improve operational and labour efficiencies in the factories
- Establish workable and sustainable methods of measuring and tracking productivity; and identifying and implementing improvements
- Report on variances and their causes, focusing on production and spending variances
- Do analysis on profitability with cross function teams to improve margin and reduce costs
- Work with the site team to develop, implement and drive cost saving initiatives
- Track and report KPIs and other Profit Improvement Projects to the team
- Ensure timely and effective supply of accurate and clear financial reporting (weekly, monthly) as required
- Plan, organize, guide and direct outputs of reports to achieve the objectives of the business
- Lead and co-ordinate inventory control, physical counts, investigate variances and resolve issues
- Identify improvements in the scanning system, investigate misalignment and ensure compliance with procedures
- Stock management input, including verifying stock count accuracy, BOMs, costings, variances, obsolescence and other stock related tasks
- Ensuring the accuracy and alignment of the BOMs to actual processes
- Authorization of bank and FX payments
- Processing and authorization of journals
- Monthly VAT calculation
- Junior cost accountant to reports to this role
Requirements
- CIMA qualified with relevant Bachelor’s degree, ideally with a Cost Management specialism; or BTech Cost & Management or similar qualifications.
- Minimum 3-5 years progressive financial experience, preferably in a food manufacturing environment, including a Management Accountant role
- Interrogated data to conduct analysis of process constraints, target costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities
- Maintaining financial transaction records, posting transactions (including cash book, stock, sales and VAT)
- Proven capacity to convert requirements to an achievable output and effective communicator of progress to all business stakeholders
- Deadline driven within a fast-moving environment
- Minimum advanced level user of Microsoft Office
- Syspro working knowledge a major advantage

- Completed Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualifications in Cost Management
