• A relevant BCom degree or similar (minimum).
• A relevant post-graduate qualification would be advantageous, but not essential.
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in commodity trading within a physically traded product.
• A proven track record of profitability and self-managed trading portfolios.
• Well-established relationships within the commodity trading space.
• An excellent network and extensive contacts within the industry.
• Exceptional negotiation skills to drive favorable outcomes.
• Strong planning and organizational abilities to manage multiple trading activities simultaneously.
• Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to solve problems in a creative and strategic manner.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build rapport and foster strong relationships.
• Proficiency in multiple languages would be a valuable asset.
• In-depth knowledge of the South African market and agricultural trading industry.
• Currently living in- or willing to relocate to Somerset West.

• Develop and execute short-term trading strategies across South Africa, focusing on identifying profitable opportunities while effectively managing risk exposure.
• Conduct thorough and insightful analysis of market trends, pricing dynamics, and emerging developments to inform trading decisions and provide regular market commentary to senior management.
• Stay abreast of regulatory requirements and market developments within the agricultural trading industry, ensuring compliance and maintaining a strong network of industry contacts.
• Collaborate closely with fellow traders and risk management teams to develop and implement effective trading strategies that align with market conditions and company objectives.
• Actively monitor and assess market conditions, adjusting trading strategies as needed to capitalize on emerging opportunities and mitigate potential risks.
• Continuously evaluate and optimize trading portfolios to drive profitability and achieve desired financial targets.
• Leverage your expertise in the South African market to identify and capitalize on unique trading opportunities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance operational efficiencies and streamline trading processes.
• Provide accurate and timely reports on trading activities, performance, and market trends to senior management and stakeholders.
