Duties & Responsibilities
Primary Roles:
Welding Operations

• Perform welding using specialized techniques (e.g., TIG, MIG, SMAW) as specified in welding procedures.
• Weld pipes, tanks, and structural components according to petrochemical industry codes (e.g., ASME Section IX, API 1104).
• Conduct root passes, hot passes, and capping in various positions (flat, vertical, overhead).

Quality Assurance

• Ensure welds meet required quality standards, including radiographic (X-ray) inspection standards, dye penetrant, or ultrasonic testing.
• Inspect and repair weld defects such as porosity, cracks, or undercuts.
• Adhere to preheating and post-welding heat treatment procedures when required.

Code Compliance and Documentation

• Follow Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and ensure adherence to safety and regulatory codes (e.g., ANSI, AWS).
• Maintain accurate records of weld parameters, procedures, and inspections.

Safety and Environmental Compliance

• Adhere to company and industry safety standards, including the use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
• Safeguard against potential hazards such as fire, toxic fumes, or confined space risks.
• Ensure environmentally responsible handling of materials and waste.

Equipment Maintenance

• Inspect and maintain welding equipment, tools, and accessories to ensure operational readiness.
• Identify and report any malfunctioning equipment to supervisors promptly.

 
Collaboration and Coordination

• Work closely with engineers, inspectors, and supervisors to meet project specifications.
• Coordinate with other trades to ensure smooth project workflows.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and safety updates.

Problem-Solving and Adaptability

• Diagnose and resolve welding-related issues on-site under tight deadlines.
• Adapt to evolving project requirements, including changing weld procedures or materials.

 
Training and Continuous Improvement

• Stay updated with advancements in welding techniques, tools, and industry standards.
• Participate in refresher training programs or certifications to maintain coded welder status.

Experience & Qualification

• 3 to 5 years’ experience.
• Trade certificate for Single Coded Welding
• Redseal
