Hire Resolve`s Client are seeking a skilled and experienced Meat Equipment Technician to join their team in Durban. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of meat processing equipment, ensuring optimal functionality, efficiency, and compliance with safety standards. The technician will work closely with production teams to minimize downtime and optimize performance.

Key

Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair meat processing equipment, including slicers, grinders, packaging machines, and refrigeration systems.

• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and efficiency.

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues, and implement corrective actions promptly.

• Perform emergency repairs to minimize production downtime.

• Work closely with production and quality assurance teams to ensure equipment meets operational and safety standards.

• Calibrate and adjust machinery settings to ensure optimal performance.

• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.

• Order and replace defective or worn-out parts as needed.

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food processing regulations.

• Provide technical support and training to operators on the proper use and care of equipment.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Diploma or Trade Certification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.

• Minimum of 3-5 years experience as a technician in the meat processing or food industry.

• Strong mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills.

• Experience working with automated and semi-automated meat processing equipment.

• Familiarity with food industry regulations and safety standards.

• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and electrical diagrams.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Good communication skills and ability to work under pressure.

Requirements:

• Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime if required.

• Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.

• Ability to lift and move heavy equipment when necessary.
