Job Summary

The Roadliner Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all aspects of cartage and collection operations within the warehouse and distribution network. This includes managing human resources, overseeing daily operations, ensuring vehicle maintenance and compliance, and managing relationships with stakeholders and third-party providers. The role ensures timely deliveries, adherence to safety regulations, and optimal operational efficiency.Reports: • Collection Reports: Provide detailed reports on daily collections and related metrics. • Vehicle Utilization Reports: Monitor the utilization of company vehicles to ensure efficiency. • Cartage Reports: Produce reports on cartage operations, including performance and areas for improvement. • HT Reports for Billing: Track hours and transportation costs for billing to various divisions. • Problem Reports: Document issues faced throughout the day, including operational disruptions or customer complaints. • Weekly Overtime Reports: Track and report on overtime worked within the team. • Fleet Lists: Maintain an updated list of fleet assets, including vehicle type, usage, and condition. • Staff Lists: Ensure accurate documentation of staff assignments and schedules. • Fleet Quality and Repairs Summary: Provide insights into fleet quality and maintenance needs, ensuring RTT’s image on the road is maintained. • Shunting Reports: Track the time collected vs time arrived in the yard vs time removed from the offloading bay to ensure operational efficiency. Manage Collection Distribution Process: • Plan and execute daily operations, ensuring resources are optimally allocated and goals are met. • Direct scheduling of deliveries, notifying customers of expected arrival times and dates. • Determine routing and method of transportation by consulting tariff manuals and trucking schedules to minimize costs and optimize efficiency. • Assign loads and routes to drivers, ensuring timely and accurate delivery. • Manage daily targets within the distribution department, driving team performance to meet key delivery and collection metrics. • Provide leadership and coaching within the distribution department, fostering a culture of high performance. • Manage relationships between different departments, stakeholders, and outside suppliers, ensuring clear communication and collaboration. • Identify and rectify operational problems, addressing inefficiencies or obstacles proactively. • Manage capacity effectively, ensuring that sufficient resources are available to meet demand. • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, ensuring all operations are carried out safely and in line with relevant policies. • Manage shift rosters, ensuring coverage across all required operational hours.• Ensure vehicle maintenance is up to standard and that Certificates of Fitness (COF) are updated timely. • Ensure driver Professional Driving Permits (PDPs) are up-to-date and recorded on MySheq. Returns Management: • Manage all client requests related to returns, ensuring timely responses and adherence to standard procedures. Staff Management: • Adhere to HR procedures and take appropriate disciplinary action when necessary, ensuring all team members follow company policies. • Monitor and manage HR procedures related to timekeeping, performance, and other employee matters.• Qualifications: Grade 12 (Matric) • Education: A degree or diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years in a logistics, transportation, or warehouse management role, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership position. • Strong administrative and organizational skills. • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. • Proficiency in report writing and data management. • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy. • Strong time management and multitasking abilities. • Leadership and team management Ability to negotiate and manage third-party relationships effectively.
