Job Summary
We are looking for a dedicated and dynamic homeschool facilitator/tutor to support a bright, creative 13-year-old PDAer. She has a passion for nail art and beauty, loves performing in theatre as a singer and actress, and enjoys being part of her church youth community.
The ideal candidate will have a calm, low-arousal presence, a flexible and intuitive approach to learning, and a youthful, engaging personality. An open-minded, strengths-based mindset is essential to support her unique learning journey with curiosity and care.
Main Purpose of the job:
To be a helping hand to an individual with unique and specific support needs, giving her the necessary guidance and support to thrive. A special interest and passion to be a secure and consistent source of support is of the utmost importance.
Job Objectives:
Support a PDA-friendly, flexible homeschool schedule.
Build a trusting, co-regulating relationship with the learner, fostering nervous system safety.
Facilitate academic learning and understanding in social, structured, and unstructured contexts as needed.
Adapt learning tasks to align with the learners interests and strengths to enhance engagement and reduce anxiety.
Use a multisensory approach to support diverse learning needs and promote deeper understanding.
Encourage development of executive functioning skills such as planning, organising, problem-solving, and help-seeking.
Provide proactive support to reduce uncertainty and ease anxiety, including pre-empting potential triggers.
Liaise with her multidisciplinary team and consistently implement support strategies as guided by therapists and parents.
Requirements
General Requirements:
Fluent in English and Afrikaans Essential.
Drivers license and own reliable car Essential.
Job Related work experience.
Previous experience tutoring/teaching intermediate phase – Essential.
Previous experience working with neurodivergent adolescents Essential.
Previous experience working in a homeschool environment – Desirable.
Familiarity with low-demand, PDA-friendly approaches – Desirable
Job Related Knowledge:
Familiarity and knowledge of autism spectrum condition (ASC) Essential.
Familiarity and knowledge of pathological demand avoidance (PDA) Essential.
Familiarity with a low demand PDA friendly approach Essential.

Benefits
Benefits:
Support and training from from the Neurodiversity Centre Facilitation Academy knowledgeable in the field of Neurodiversity.
Working hours:
– Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 3 hours per day
– Flexibility in scheduling is essential; exact times to be negotiated.
Salary: R7200 R9 000.
(R200 R250 per hour depending on experience)
