Job Summary
Trade Tested Diesel Mechanic
Location: KZN Midlands (past Pietermaritzburg)
Our client based outside of Pietermaritzburg is seeking a trade tested Diesel Mechanic to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to work with diesel-powered heavy equipment in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and Repair: Identify and resolve mechanical and electrical issues on diesel-powered heavy equipment, including trucks, loaders, excavators, and other forestry machinery.
- Routine Maintenance: Perform essential maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and thorough inspections to ensure optimal equipment performance.
- Safety Assurance: Ensure all equipment is maintained in a safe and operational condition, adhering to industry safety standards.
- Work Environment: Operate primarily in a workshop setting, with potential on-site work.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Trade Qualification: Must possess a trade-tested diesel mechanic qualification.
- Experience: Previous experience with heavy is highly advantageous.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of diesel engine systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Manual Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics effectively.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
- Communication Skills: Good communication and organizational skills to work effectively within a team.
- Drivers License: A valid drivers license is required.
