Duties include Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on a wide range of vehicles, ensuring quality and safety standards. Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems efficiently. Mentor and support junior technicians, sharing knowledge and best practices. Maintain accurate service records, reports, and workshop documentation. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and workshop operational standards. Collaborate with management to streamline processes and improve workshop efficiency. Lead by example with a strong work ethic, discipline, and dedication to customer satisfaction. Take on increasing responsibilities towards workshop management, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation as below: Workshop Operations & Workflow Management Allocate job cards based on technician skill and availability Ensure job cards are correctly completed Oversee test drives and post-test full checks Approve proposed work before quoting via Service Advisor Ensure parts are ordered and delivered on time Expedite delayed part deliveries Maintain efficient workflow and minimize downtime Monitor job progress; provide support or escalate as needed Conduct final quality checks before vehicle release Post-Repair Quality Control Inspect completed work for mechanical and visual standards Verify safety, repair accuracy, and fluid levels Ensure no warning lights, leaks, or loose fittings remain Complete diagnostic scans and log results Confirm vehicle cleanliness (inside and out) Personally sign off all completed work to reduce comebacks Team Management & Development Supervise and mentor mechanics, apprentices, and service staff Conduct regular staff check-ins and performance reviews Match tasks to individual strengths Manage attendance, leave, and discipline Identify training needs and arrange upskilling Parts & Inventory Coordination Ensure accurate and timely parts ordering Monitor inventory to prevent over/understocking Build strong supplier relationships and negotiate delivery terms Customer Service & Communication Lead Service Advisor to ensure seamless workshop/front-desk flow Communicate job progress and timelines Align customer expectations with workshop capacity Address complaints promptly and professionally Customer Vehicle Care Standards Enforce use of protective covers in all vehicles Prevent tools or rags from being left in/on vehicles Ensure vehicles are cleaned and inspected before return Log pre-existing damage and verify post-work condition Instil respect-for-property culture in the team Administrative Duties Maintain accurate job records and timesheets Enforce health & safety compliance and cleanliness standards Track and report workshop KPIs (e.g. TAT, first-time fix rate, comebacks, productivity) Requirements: Senior Certificate (Grade 12) Technician Qualification Red Seal with hands on experience Aged 30 45 Years Strong Diagnostic, Problem Solving and Mechanical skills knowledge of Automotive repairs Leadership potential with an interest in growing in a Workshop Foreman role.
