Durban: Senior Data & Business Intelligence Developer – Durban

Key Responsibilities Business Analysis & Solution Design – Partner with stakeholders to understand business challenges, performance drivers, and information needs. – Translate business questions into technical requirements, KPIs, and performance metrics. – Conduct data discovery, quality assessments, and gap analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness. – Prototype analytical approaches to uncover trends, correlations, and predictive patterns. Data & BI Development – Design and build scalable data models and ETL processes across multiple data sources. – Develop intuitive BI reports and dashboards using SQL, PowerPivot, Power BI and Qlik Sense – Apply mathematical and statistical techniques to derive insights, improve forecasting, and support decision-making. – Ensure reports are designed with clarity, usability, and storytelling in mind. Collaboration & Mentorship – Facilitate solution walkthroughs and demos to validate outputs with stakeholders. – Mentor junior team members, sharing knowledge of data modeling, BI best practices, and analytical techniques. – Contribute to the development of reusable BI components, templates, and data assets. Governance, Maintenance & Support – Adhere to data governance and security frameworks. – Perform regular audits and optimizations to ensure data accuracy and system performance. – Troubleshoot and resolve BI solution issues, providing ongoing support to business users. Required Qualifications & Skills – Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (Honours preferred). – 5 years of experience working with SQL and relational databases. – Proven track record in designing and delivering BI solutions. – Strong skills in handling large, complex datasets and applying mathematical or statistical methods to extract insights. – Experience in stakeholder engagement, requirements gathering, and translating needs into actionable BI outputs. – Excellent problem-solving ability with a focus on creating practical, business-focused solutions. – Strong communication skills, able to simplify and present technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences. Desirable Skills – Experience in a logistics or supply chain environment. – Exposure to Enterprise Resource Planning solutions like Syspro, SAP, etc. – Knowledge of data governance frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, POPIA).
