As a Stress Engineer you will play a critical role in analysis and evaluation of structural integrity using both analytical methods and Finite Element Modelling tools. Working with Senior engineers to plan and define structural testing to validate analysis.

Structural Analysis:

• Analyse load paths to ensure the design of a structurally efficient and reliable primary and secondary aircraft structures.
• Size components and perform stress analysis using both hand calculations and Finite Element Modelling.
• Perform vibration analysis to identify resonance and reduced risks of structural failure.

Material Analysis and Selection:

• Evaluate suitability of aerospace materials, including metals and composites, based on design criteria
• Analyse the effect of loading on material performance.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to introduce innovative solutions

Test and Validation:

• Support Senior Engineers in defining structural testing requirements, including static and vibration test, and material property evaluations.
• Structural Analysis:

  • Analyse the effect of loading on material performance.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to introduce innovative solutions

  Test and Validation:

  • Support Senior Engineers in defining structural testing requirements, including static and vibration test, and material property evaluations.
  • Validate models by comparing test data and analytical calculations and refine models as necessary.

  Design Support:

  • Collaborate with design engineers to optimize structural performance and reduce weight while maintaining safety margins.
  • Review and suggest modifications to CAD designs for manufacturability and stress considerations.

  Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare high level stress reports and presentations for Senior Stress Engineers and Stakeholders.
  • Document calculations, assumptions, and methodologies.

  Compliance and Standards:

  • Ensure designs comply with industry-specific standards, military specifications, and regulatory requirement.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant aerospace and defense standards.

  Problem-Solving:

  • Identify and resolve complex engineering challenges related to mechanical design, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Implement design improvements based on feedback from testing, field performance, and lessons learned.

  Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

  • Research and integrate new materials, technologies, and design techniques to enhance performance and reduce costs.
  • Stay informed about advancements in aerospace and defense technology and incorporate best practices into design and stress analysis processes.
  • Continuously enhance technical knowledge by learning from senior engineers, attending training sessions, and keeping up with industry advancements.

   
  Candidate requirements:
  Qualification and/or professional license(s)
  Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering
  Years of experience needed
  3 years+
