Roles and Responsibilities About the Role We are in a dynamic early-growth phase, developing its structure, systems, and market footprint within the sustainable construction materials industry. We are seeking a Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) who can operate at executive level while being hands-on in building the commercial engine particularly across sales, marketing, and business development. This role is part of the company’s Executive Management Team, alongside the CFO and COO. The CFO ensures financial governance, the COO drives operational excellence, and the CCO leads the commercial growth, customer engagement, and market positioning. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s growth strategy taking products from concept to market adoption, developing strong customer channels, and building the scalable tools, teams, and partnerships needed for long-term success. Key Contributions of the CCO Vision & Market Leadership Defines and communicates commercial vision and growth trajectory. Translates opportunities into a clear commercial roadmap aligned with finance and operations. Acts as the public face of the business with customers, partners, and industry stakeholders. Builds credibility in a conservative industry, positioning it as a trusted alternative to traditional wood products. Commercial & Entrepreneurial Drive Develop presence in a new market space and create demand for innovative products. Take products from concept to market adoption. Apply an entrepreneurial mindset spotting opportunities and converting them into sustainable revenue streams. Strategic Leadership & Alignment Collaborate with the CFO and COO to shape resource allocation, balancing financial discipline, operational feasibility and commercial viability. Ensure that customers, pricing, branding and capacity considerations are always integrated into business decisions. Provide the strategic bridge between finance and operations, ensuring market realities guide internal priorities. Systems & Scaling Identify and implement the tools, systems, and processes required to scale sales, marketing, and customer management effectively. Build frameworks for distribution partnerships, brand credibility, and long-term growth. What Were Looking For We are seeking an individual with the skills, mindset, and experience to perform as CCO, which may include: Commercial leadership in B2B, manufacturing, or construction sectors. Entrepreneurial mindset with experience in building markets from scratch. Strong track record in sales, marketing, and business development. Excellent leadership, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Strategic thinker who can also execute at ground level. Profile & Requirements Essential Minimum 10 years leadership experience, with at least 5 years at executive or director level. Proven success in building and scaling commercial functions in B2B, manufacturing, construction, or materials sectors. Deep understanding of sales, marketing, and business development strategy. Demonstrated ability to launch new products and build markets from scratch. Financially literate able to evaluate margins, pricing, and ROI. Strong relationship builder and communicator at board, customer, and team level. Entrepreneurial, proactive, and comfortable in a high-accountability, growth-stage environment. Preferred Experience in the construction, building materials, or manufacturing industries. Exposure to investor relations, fundraising, or strategic partnerships. Experience implementing sales and marketing automation systems. Remuneration package: Basic Annual Salary: R1.2m R1.8m.
