Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Financial Controller to join the team in East London. This role involves financial reporting, management support, and oversight of subsidiary entities. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance, driving efficiency, and providing valuable financial insights across the group.
Key Responsibilities

Liaise with bookkeepers of multiple external entities (approx. 6 to start).

Assist with full-spectrum accounting, VAT, and income tax queries.

Support the preparation of monthly Management Accounts.

Prepare annual audit files for submission to auditors.

Contribute to budgeting processes for external clients.

Train and upskill bookkeepers as needed.

Review Management Accounts and financial reports.

Promote the service offering to potential clients, including software demonstrations and presentations.

Identify and qualify new business opportunities through networking, referrals, and industry events.

Meet with potential clients to assess needs and present tailored solutions.

Prepare service proposals, quotations, and contracts, ensuring compliance.

Collaborate with internal teams on service delivery and client onboarding.

Monitor industry trends and competitor offerings.
-
Maintain accurate sales and client records, tracking KPIs.
-
Act as a point of contact for new clients, ensuring smooth onboarding and ongoing satisfaction.
Qualifications & Experience
-
BCom Accounting degree or equivalent finance qualification.
-
Minimum 5 years experience in a mid to senior finance role.
-
Proven experience in Management Accounts preparation and reporting.

Strong background in audit preparation and auditor liaison.
-
Solid knowledge of IFRS and relevant accounting standards.

Proficiency in Microsoft, Sage Accpac, Xero, Spotlight, or similar accounting systems.

Advanced Excel skills (including complex formulae).

Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
-
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with both clients and staff.

Attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines.

Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.

Willingness to work overtime when required.

Fluency in English (verbal and written) at a first-language level.
