About the Role

Were seeking a seasoned Tax Manager to lead direct tax compliance, tax accounting, and complex advisory for a multi-entity South African group. Youll steer the tax calendar, own SARS interactions end-to-end, and deliver clear, defensible positions on evolving legislation. The role blends hands-on technical work with leadershipguiding stakeholders, uplifting capability, and ensuring reliable, audit-ready outcomes.

What Youll Do

• Lead the full direct tax compliance cycle for companies, individuals, and trusts (incl. provisional tax and annual returns).

• Manage SARS verifications, audits, and supporting documentation; lead disputes (remissions, objections, appeals, ADRs), payment suspensions and VDPs.

• Prepare and review tax accounting, reconciliations, and disclosures; partner with Finance on month-end and year-end.

• Draft tax opinions and legal memoranda; perform research on new developments, rulings, and pronouncements.

• Coordinate and submit tax rulings; advise on transfer pricing considerations and documentation.

• Provide guidance on estate duty and related planning within policy and risk appetite.

• Build strong internal stakeholder relationships; upskill teams on processes and compliance standards.

• Track risk, controls, and deadlines; maintain audit-ready files and defend positions confidently.

What You Bring

• CA(SA) with a Masters in Taxation (or equivalent advanced tax qualification).

• Proven capability in tax opinions/legal writing, tax accounting, and end-to-end SARS engagements.

• Hands-on experience with disputes (objections/appeals/ADRs), VDPs, and rulings.

• Strong grasp of corporate income tax across companies, individuals, trusts; confident with provisional tax.

• Working knowledge of transfer pricing principles and documentation; exposure to estate duty helpful.

• Clear, concise communicator who can simplify complexity for non-tax stakeholders.

• Ability to work on-site in Bedfordview (preference for candidates within 30km for hybrid/on-site collaboration).
