About the Role
SA Metal is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Communications Technician to join their team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of various electronic devices, access control systems, CCTV cameras, and telecommunications. They will work closely with the team to ensure seamless communication and data transmission.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation, wiring, and mounting of various electronic devices, machines, or equipment
- Installation and programming of access control systems, CCTV cameras, and motorized entrance points
- Installation, fault finding, relocation, and fitment of all telecommunications
- Fitting and testing of data cables for all network points and power skirting
- Assist in moving offices and setting up PCs, Phone lines, and moving files
- Mounting, wiring, and fitting grids for wireless infrastructure
- Day to day maintenance, installation, and servicing of security and data equipment
- Tool and equipment maintenance
- Adhoc activities as requested by Manager
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Semi-Skilled team members
- Housekeeping
Requirements
- Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Relevant certifications or qualification
- Minimum of 5 years experience working within an electronic security field
- Basic electric/electronic, CCTV, intercom, data, or alarm courses
- IP and analogue camera, alarm, automation, data cabling, electric fencing, intercoms, UPS, and Alternating Current electrical knowledge
- Knowledge of data cabinet wiring
- Knowledge and experience working with power tools
- Valid drivers license
- Must be prepared to work overtime when required
Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Relevant certifications or qualification
