About the Role
Deka Minas (Pty) Ltd is seeking a highly qualified and experienced academic to join our Law Department as an Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality legal education, contribute to academic scholarship through research and publications, and support the continued development of the department. This role includes teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate law courses, supervising research, and participating in academic leadership, depending on rank.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and/or postgraduate law courses, seminars, and tutorials
- Design and update legal curriculum in line with modern legal developments and practices
- Supervise student research projects, dissertations, and thesis work
- Conduct high-quality legal research and publish in reputable academic journals
- Participate in departmental administration, committees, and academic planning
- Contribute to the academic community through service, outreach, and professional collaboration
- Mentor students and junior faculty
- Ensure legal education aligns with national and international academic standards
- Engage with external stakeholders including the legal profession and regulatory bodies
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Law (LLM or equivalent)
- PhD in Law or a related legal discipline
- Admission to a legal bar or professional legal qualification (advantageous)
- Demonstrated record of academic scholarship and publication (required for Associate Professor level)
