Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Actuarial Executive to join our team in Sandton, South Africa. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects, producing reports, and performing reviews and analysis in all areas of short-term actuarial services. They will also provide technical advice to General Insurance clients, manage client relationships, and perform market studies and research.

Key Responsibilities

Manage projects, produce reports, and perform reviews and analysis in all areas of short-term actuarial services.
Review technical provisions – IBNR, UPR, AURR, including stochastic risk adjustment calculations in R/Python.
Assist clients with their IFRS 17 reporting requirements.
Provide HAF support.
Capital modelling, including reviews of economic capital models, building challenger models, and quantitative validation of the SAM/RBC standard formula.
Reinsurance reviews and stochastic optimisation, including geospatial modelling.
Product pricing and design, including reviews, working with GLMs, GAMs, etc.
Projection models for ORSA/FCR and business plans.
Provide technical advice to General Insurance clients.
Ensure that reports include insight/value-add for clients.
Support the Associate Directors.
Perform market studies and research.
Maintain and improve client relationships.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, etc.
At least seven years experience in General Insurance, pricing or reserving and capital modelling.
Qualified or near qualified actuary.
Experience in managing projects and people (advantageous).
Experience with SAM, ORSAs, valuations and solvency calculations will be beneficial.
Strong proficiency in statistical modelling techniques and programming languages such as R, would be advantageous.
Strong work ethic and highly motivated.
Effective communication.

Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, etc.
Qualified or near qualified actuary
