About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Civil Engineer to join our team in Cape Town. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary and innovative team, you will work closely with various stakeholders to deliver accurate civil designs for complex projects. With 7+ years of postgraduate experience in a similar position, you will be responsible for managing complex civil scopes, interpreting survey data, and performing engineering design calculations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver accurate civil designs for earthworks, roads, buried services, and stormwater systems
- Interpret survey data and use it to inform design decisions
- Perform accurate engineering design and calculations
- Interpreting engineering drawings, documents, specifications, and scopes
- Identify scope variations and prepare relevant documentation accordingly
- Coordinating technical aspects of the design with interdisciplinary teams
- Managing design and drafting resources to achieve agreed deliverable dates and man-hour budgets
- Developing technical documentation, including scopes of work and specifications using relevant industry standards and guidelines
- Providing accurate material take-offs as and when required
- Assisting with the delivery of engineering documentation in relation to scope, quantities, cost, and schedule
- Registering and filing all relevant engineering documentation in accordance with company-approved procedures
Requirements
- University Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution
- 7+ years’ postgraduate experience in a similar position
- Registered ECSA Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist
- South African citizen or Permanent Resident
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with colleagues across all business units
- Driven and determined to achieve objectives through continued professional development
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision whilst consistently producing a high quality of deliverables
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment
- Demonstrated ability to achieve consistently high standards within both budgetary and schedule constraints
- Solid technical aptitude, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Qualifications
- University Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution
