About the Role
The Assistant Bursar will provide critical administrative support to the school, ensuring seamless management of school fees, finances, and related tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle daily communications with parents regarding school fees, including telephonic and email correspondence
- Invoicing of school fees, subsidy runs, debit order runs, and sending of statements monthly
- Administration of school fee collection, including handover to debt collectors of defaulting parents/guardians on bi-annual basis
- Ensuring communication and administration with regards to debt collectors and collecting
- Distribution and collection of exemption application forms
- Assessment of exemption applications
- Maintenance of accurate records
- Loading debit orders for new students monthly
- Monthly maintenance of debit orders and altering amounts annually
- General Finance Handling petty cash where necessary
- Receipting, counting, and banking of all cash on school premises (from sports events, fundraising events, and any other school functions)
- Receipting and signing off on all money received by staff on a daily basis
- Ensuring all school tours and adventure camps are paid for timeously, including contacting parents and ensuring appropriate sponsorships are offered
- Banking of all cash bank statement and General Ledger reconciliations
- Allocate and capture debtors’ payments
- Ensuring debtors reports for finance committee meetings are submitted
- Providing general administrative support to Bursar as required
- Vehicle licence renewals
- Loading of collections on Karri
- Ordering of refreshments for events when necessary
- Procurement assistance
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in finance, accounting, or a related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a school environment
- Knowledge of financial management principles
- Proficiency in Edupac software
- Credit control experience
- Administration and cash-handling experience
