Job Description

This role is ideal for someone who thrives after hours, enjoys managing large teams, and is driven to maintain world-class standards in production, packaging, and quality control throughout the night.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all nightshift packhouse operations to ensure production targets are met accurately and efficiently.
  • Lead, manage, and motivate a team of ±40 employees across packing, quality control, and dispatch.
  • Ensure strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, quality, and cold chain standards.
  • Monitor production schedules and coordinate workflow to optimise efficiency during the night.
  • Manage inventory, minimise waste, and ensure optimal product freshness for next-day distribution.
  • Maintain tracking systems for output, labour, rejects, downtime, and performance indicators.
  • Collaborate with logistics, procurement, and production teams to ensure next-day readiness.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, accuracy, and operational consistency.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years’ experience in a packhouse, production, FMCG, or operations environment.
  • Proven experience managing teams of 30+ employees, ideally within shift or night operations.
  • A tertiary qualification in Operations, Production, or Agriculture is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, food safety, cold chain management, and packhouse operations.
  • Excellent communication, planning, and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and basic production/packhouse systems.
  • Must have reliable transport due to late-night working hours.
