About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Machine Shop Charge-hand to join our team at Kerry Kopp Consulting in Howick. As a key member of our factory operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our machine shop and CNC facilities. With your expertise in mechanical engineering and experience in maintenance machine shops or tool rooms, we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure planned maintenance schedule are carried out as instructed and necessary assistance is given to artisans for carrying out tasks
- Attend breakdowns and carry out necessary repairs in the shortest possible time
- Manage the CNC and machine shop team for efficient support to factory artisans
- Report all serious defects that could not be repaired to the section foreman or maintenance manager
- Carry out safety inspections on equipment and plant as instructed
- Undertake installation and modification of equipment and plant
Requirements
- Minimum N4 – N6 in Mechanical Engineering
- Recognized Trade Test a Turner or Toolmaker
- Proficiency in MS office
Qualifications
Minimum 5+ years of experience in a maintenance machine shop or tool room
Extensive knowledge and understanding of machine shop practices and operations of CNC mills
Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings
