Drive and support research initiatives focused on developing and testing structural materials
Perform laboratory investigations and material performance tests
Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate research outcomes into practical solutions
Mentor and guide junior engineers
Prepare detailed technical documentation and reports

Skills & Experience:
Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in structural engineering, materials science or related work.
Deep understanding of structural materials and behaviour, with proven hands-on lab and testing experience.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to interpret and apply research data effectively.
Excellent technical writing and communication skills, with a collaborative working style.
A proactive approach to mentorship and professional development of junior engineering staff.

Qualification:
Master’s degree (MEng/MSc) or PhD in Structural Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering essential.

Job Description:

• Design, model and detail a range of commercial and industrial structures
• Collaborate with senior engineers, architects and project managers
• Ensure all designs comply with SANS codes and client specifications
• Take ownership of your projects — from concept through to construction

Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 5–10 years’ structural design experience
• Proficiency in Sumo
• Strong understanding of steel and concrete design
• A team player with a passion for technical excellence and problem-solving
• Understand Afrikaans

Qualification:
BEng / BSc in Civil or Structural Engineering
