About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Specialist Financial Assets to join our team at Sandton. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in IFRS, GRAP, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements, with a strong track record of providing technical insight and direction on financial assets. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the IDC’s Investments and Loans are structured in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), while also supporting the Strategic Business Units (SBUs) and/or Client Support Growth and Catalyst (CS G) teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical insight and direction on financial assets to ensure compliance with IFRS
- Offer accounting technical advice on transactions under consideration or concluded by the Company
- Implement complex Investments and Loans on SAP, providing guidance to the Financial Management: Loans Management team as needed
- Act as the IFRS technical key person for the SBU and CS G teams
- Create internal IFRS checklists for the origination of Investments and Loans and Advances
- Provide guidance on the requirements of IFRS 13 for valuations prepared and the required inputs to the AFS disclosure notes
Requirements
- At least 8-10 years’ experience in IFRS in an accounting environment, preferably in financial services
- Strong understanding of IFRS 9 and IFRS 13
- Thorough knowledge of GRAP (added advantage)
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare management reports
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Sound financial modeling skills
Qualifications
- Qualified CA(SA)
- Further studies, such as an MCom (Accounting), will be an added advantage
- At least 5-7 years’ post articles experience required
