About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reconcile financial statements and ensure accuracy of accounts

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, as well as providing support to senior management with financial reporting and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and authorise cashbook entries, petty cash, and credit card transactions
  • Process and reconcile payments to third-party vendors
  • Prepare monthly management reports
  • Review general ledger accounts and investigate any variances
  • Ensure accurate and timely statutory submissions, including VAT and regulatory reporting
  • Assist with budgeting, annual financial statements, and external audit processes
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and perform regular reconciliations
  • Review balance sheet accounts and compile reconciliation schedules for Senior Accountant review
  • Perform internal audits and recommend improvements to financial processes and controls
  • Support the mentoring and development of Junior Accountants in collaboration with the Senior Accountant
  • Support the mentoring and training of the Creditors Clerk in alignment with the Senior Accountant
  • Enhance financial capability across the organisation by guiding teams on finance processes, policies, and best practices
  • Provide general financial administration support and assist with ad hoc tasks as required

Requirements

  • At least three years of commercial experience in a financial accounting role
  • Relevant qualification (Bcom/Bcompt Accounting Degree)
