About the Role
Mayfly Agri is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Farm Manager to join our team in the Democratic Republic of Congo. As an integral part of our agricultural operations, you will play a crucial role in maximizing crop yield, ensuring optimal farm efficiency, and contributing to the overall success of our business. With a strong focus on leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills, we are looking for a candidate who can effectively manage diverse teams, implement strategic plans, and drive results-oriented performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic plans to maximize crop yield
- Select crop varieties suited to local conditions and determine optimal planting and harvesting schedules
- Oversee the maintenance and proactive repair of farm machinery and equipment
- Manage and coordinate farm staff, including direct reportees across various departments
- Monitor crop conditions, weather patterns, and other factors to maintain and enhance quality and quantity of crop yields
- Prepare and manage budgets and financial plans based on projected crop yields
- Ensure compliance with government regulations, including taxes, labor laws, and environmental standards
- Procure supplies such as fertilizers, seeds, and equipment spares to support smooth farm operations
- Plan and execute the hiring of seasonal contractors
- Manage the agricultural fleet of vehicles
- Maintain accurate records for inventory control, crop yields, and operational activities
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field
- Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in farm management, preferably in a large-scale agricultural operation
- Strong knowledge of crop production, farm machinery maintenance, and agronomic practices suited to the Democratic Republic of Congo
- Proven leadership skills with experience in managing diverse teams
- Excellent organizational, financial, and problem-solving skills

- Completed Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field
